FAQs

Made to Be Messy is Perth’s only dedicated messy play and creative workshop studio for children. We provide hands-on sensory play, art classes, and STEM sessions designed to encourage creativity, curiosity, and exploration—without parents having to worry about the clean-up!

Our workshops cater to children aged 6 months to 12 years, with specific sessions designed to suit different age ranges and developmental stages.

You can expect a fun-filled, sensory-rich experience where your child will have the opportunity to explore multiple activity stations. We provide a variety of messy play materials, creative arts, and STEM activities, allowing children to engage at their own pace in a safe, supportive environment.

At the end of the session, we provide warm water and cleaning stations so you can leave the mess behind and head home stress-free!

Here’s a quick checklist to ensure your child is ready for messy fun:

  •  A change of clothes (and a nappy if needed).
  • A towel to dry off (and maybe another for the car seat if extra messy!).
  • A plastic bag to store messy clothes.
  • Weather-appropriate items: Sunscreen & hat for warm days / Raincoat & gumboots for wet weather.
  • A baby carrier or pram (if bringing a non-participating infant).

Our studio is fully equipped with baby change tables, two toilets (including an accessible toilet), and bucket baths for easy clean-up.

Dress in comfortable clothes that can get messy—we use paint, food colouring, and other sensory materials that may stain. While most stains wash out easily, we recommend avoiding special outfits. Puddle suits and aprons are available at the studio for added protection.

We do not use products containing nuts, soy, dairy, or eggs in our activities. However, some materials may carry “may contain traces of” warnings.

All materials are food-based, non-toxic, and prepared following strict safety guidelines. “Taste-safe” means they’re safe if your child happens to have a little taste, but they are not intended for consumption.

Due to preparation costs and material expenses, casual bookings are non-refundable and non-changeable. However, if you have a Class Pass, you can reschedule with at least 2 hours’ notice through your account.

If you can’t attend, you’re welcome to transfer your ticket to someone else—just email info@madetobemessy.com.au with the new attendee’s details.

Each booking includes one child and one accompanying adult. Additional adults or non-participating children are welcome for a $5 fee per person, payable at the door.

Participating children require a full ticket, and we offer a 50% sibling discount for extra participating children.

Yes! You’re welcome to attend solo with more than one child. However, we ask that you supervise your children at all times to ensure their safety and enjoyment.

Absolutely! Non-participating babies in arms are welcome at no extra cost. We suggest using a baby carrier or pram so you can engage with your participating child freely.

Yes! However, please be mindful of other attendees and avoid capturing images of children without permission.

We may take photos and short videos during sessions for promotional purposes. If you prefer not to be photographed, please let us know upon arrival.

  • 10 Class Pass ($230): Access to 10 term-time classes, valid for 6 months (excludes school holiday workshops).
  • Siblings Pass ($375): Includes 20 bookings (perfect for 2 siblings attending a 10-week term), valid for 6 months.

How to use your Class Pass:

1️. Purchase your pass – You’ll receive a login for our members’ area.

Nope! That’s the best part! We take care of all the mess so you can simply enjoy the experience with your child. We just ask that you be respectful of our space and keep materials within their designated play area so the messy magic can be kept alive for all attendees.

We recommend washing clothes as soon as possible after a session. Most stains (including food colouring and paint) come out with a normal wash cycle, but we can’t guarantee stain-free play—that’s part of the fun!
